Theories surrounding music videos

Richard Dyer's Theory

Katie Perry's- Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)- music video is a good example of this star theory as it not only reflects a separate version of Katie Perry as she is in real life but it also reflects the zeitgeist and ideologies of the time. She reflects the ideals of having fun and the ideas of youth at the time, which is also relatable to her fans.

Goodwin's Theory

Michael Jackson's- Thriller- is an example which aligns with this theory of what a music video is made up of. It consists of many things such as genre typical style, lyrics that link to the video and even some sorts of intertextuality with creatures such as the werewolf and zombies!

Beauty advert

Here is my beauty advert promoting the Marc Jacobs daisy perfume. I decided I wanted to make the perfume stand out so in order to do that I created a background of light to emphasise the product. I also wanted to give the advert a classy look and so I used gold colours to accentuate this

SHSG sixth form poster

Here is my SHSG sixth form promotional advert. I wanted to give the School a sophisticated look and so I used gold frames in order to connote this. I also wanted to represent the range of activities and spaces in the school so I used a variety of images to show this - such as the library and even the tree in the background.
